Dr Gabrielle Matta is a Consultant Psychiatrist working as a General Adult Psychiatrist. She has particular interests in complex trauma, borderline personality disorder, psychodynamic psychotherapy, functional neurological disorders and trainee doctor supervision, peer support and training.

Dr Matta completed the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree at the University of New South Wales in 2010 as well as gaining research experience through the Bachelor of Science (Medicine) (Honours) program. She undertook most of her psychiatry training in Melbourne, studied a Master of Psychiatry at The University of Melbourne, receiving the Bruce Singh Award for 2015.

Dr Matta trained for one year as the neuroimaging registrar at The Royal Melbourne Hospital Neuropsychiatry Unit. She was awarded the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatry’s Maddison Medallion for 2018.

Dr Matta has been living in Townsville since 2017, gaining experience working within Rural, Remote and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Mental Health Services. She loves exploring the stunning landscapes of North Queensland.
