Dr Sarah Beaney BM, MRCPsych, MA(Ed), FRANZCP is a specialist Old Age Psychiatrist and experienced in working with older patients who have both functional and organic illnesses. She also has an interest in Early Onset Dementia and expertise in diagnosing and treating Dementia in Younger Adults.
Dr Beaney graduated from Southampton University School of Medicine with a Bachelor of Medicine in 1999. She then
worked full time completing her Psychiatry training with the National Health Service in the UK, and was also a consultant Old Age Psychiatrist within a multidisciplinary team in the South of England, treating both community patients and inpatients.
She has been a consultant in Old Age Psychiatry since 2007, when she completed her senior training in this discipline.
Dr Beaney has an interest in education as well, and achieved her Masters in Professional Education from the University of Winchester in 2008.
In 2012 she relocated to North Queensland and has continued to work with older adults who have a mental illness and/or Dementia, as well as younger adults with a variety of mental health issues. She also has a co-ordinating role with Trainee Psychiatrists within the Mental Health Service Group in Townsville.
Dr Beaney and her family have enjoyed the move to Townsville and are now well settled in the local community.
Dr Beaney is happy to see patients aged 50 and above, and receive referrals for patients with mental health issues
associated with ageing, or for patients of any age who require assessment for possible Dementia, or the management of psychological or behavioural issues associated with Dementia.
