I wanted to take this opportunity to give you feedback from my recent stay at TPC. I assure you that all of it is awesome.
I have worked in the mental health industry for many years and mental health is my professional passion and, as such, I have experienced the spectrum of professional practice as well as having been on the other side of the equation and been a mental patient over 6 admissions.
I have been almost universally disappointed with the lack of trauma informed practice, the almost universal practice of an outdated recovery model that predicates recovery as a full return to premorbid function, which we all know almost never happens and is just setting the pt up for failure. Recovery is not this, it is about acceptance of the changes and new awareness of how to find a meaningful life using a well stocked toolkit to keep regulated and healthy.
Every single nurse in your facility has a deep understanding of this principle and that can be no coincidence and therefore must reflect focus, education and encouragement on this matter by the entire clinical management team, starting from the very top.
My stay, although short, was absolutely a pleasure and I felt respected, cared for and understood and my personal goals were at all times central to my treatment. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for this and just how much it has helped lift my cynicism regarding so much of what transpires in our industry.
I just wanted to pass this feedback on to you as I know that patients are very quick to complain and are rather reticent to express gratitude and praise when it is due. This can be very disheartening and so I want you to know that, in my opinion, Townsville Private Clinic is, without doubt, a world class facility providing care that is congruent with the ever changing awareness of mental health treatment modalities that are best practice, progressive and evidence based.
Thank you Deb, I know from feedback from other veterans that you have personally played a leading role in shaping the practice ethos of the facility and it is a credit to your compassion, dedication and desire to always remain current and provide the very best care to your patients.
We want to thank Alex for his wonderful words about his recent stay with us. We love hearing feedback and understanding what is working and what we're doing well (as well as what isn't) so we can continue to keep improving the services we provide to the community we love.
