Inpatient Use of Motor Vehicle
It is a condition of admission at Townsville Private Clinic patients do not operate a motor vehicle or motorbike during their stay.
Pre-Admission
Patients are not permitted to keep vehicles on Clinic grounds once they have been admitted to the hospital unless approved by Clinic Management.
Patients who drive themselves to the Clinic for admission must make prior arrangements with a carer or family member for the vehicle to be removed from the Clinic grounds within 24 hours of admission.
Patients are not permitted to drive any vehicle whilst they are an inpatient at the Clinic.
During Admission
If you are unable to organise someone to remove your car from the Clinic grounds, the following conditions are to be complied with:
- You must surrender your keys to your motor vehicle to nursing staff if it is parked on Clinic grounds during your admission. The keys will be returned to you on discharge. You are not permitted to drive a motor vehicle whilst you are an inpatient.
- Your car must be parked in the designated area. Your car is not permitted to be parked in areas designated for staff, doctors or visitors
- Cars are parked at the owners own risk without any responsibility on the part of the Clinic for loss or damage
Non-Compliance
Non –compliance with these guidelines will result in the immediate notification of your treating Psychiatrist. Failure to comply will result in discharge from the Clinic and the police may be notified if you are deemed unfit to drive.
