Dr Mushtaq Mohiuddin MBBS, FRANZCP, FRCPC is an experienced Adult Psychiatrist with interests in dealing with Veterans’ mental health, trauma related disorders (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, and Grief), alcohol and substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, neurostimulation, and psychotherapy.

His particular interest includes medicolegal report writing to assist veterans going through DVA, patients dealing with Workcover, or those going through other civil claims and liabilities. Dr Mohiuddin also works in the public service as a consultant psychiatrist in the community forensic mental services. In addition to his generalist psychiatric training, he has also completed a certificate of advanced training in addiction psychiatry with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He also holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

He is a certified independent medical examiner of the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. Prior to his current role, he has worked in the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Services and the North Queensland Persistent Pain Management team in Townsville. He has been an adjunct lecturer at James Cook University and has also been a member of the Human Research Ethics Committee at Townsville University Hospital.

He has been working in private practice at the Townsville Private Clinic from its early days of inception and is now the current Chairperson of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee. Dr Mohiuddin aims to provide holistic treatment plans using a personalised and collaborative approach for patients.

His strengths include the ability to develop a strong therapeutic alliance whilst implementing evidence based biological and psychotherapeutic treatment strategies carefully tailored to each individual patient.

His other interests include reading, travelling, and playing sports. He is a member of various local sports clubs and believes in achieving harmony through a healthy relationship between the mind, body, and spirit.
